As the senate trial of Donald Trump grapples with the revelations from John Bolton's book manuscript — namely that the former security advisor's forthcoming opus confirms the Ukraine aid quid pro quo — it seems no member of the Trump administration is remotely interested in talking about Ukraine. Especially Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who lost it at NPR journalist Mary Louise Kelly when she pivoted from Iran to asking about Ukraine in a recent interview.

Pompeo not only ended the interview early, but yelled and swore at her afterwards, asking rhetorically if she thought Americans care about Ukraine, and even had an aide bring an unmarked world map so he could ask her to point out Ukraine on it. (If that's what passes for a gotcha question in the State Department right now, that might explain a lot.)

Stephen Colbert summed it up perfectly in his Tuesday night Late Show monologue.

"I don't think Pompeo understands the real issue at all," he said. "Ukraine is not what people are giving an F-word about here. They give an F-word about the president blackmailing any foreign country, to win an F-wording election. It doesn't matter if it's [against] Biden and Ukraine, or Buttigieg and Djibouti."

And Colbert has a free merch idea to replace the iconic NPR tote bag for their next donation drive: the Mike Pompeo Is A Douche Bag.
